Inquiring Minds Want to Know: Part 2

This post brought to you in part by...

Inquiring minds want to know: Part 2 - Kitchen Stuff...

1) OJ and its PULP level: If-I-find-it-in-my-OJ-what-so-ever-I'll-hurt-you pulp / so-so pulp/ So-much-I-want-to-use-a-fork pulp?

2a) Microwave: Microwaved a House Fly or any other formerly living thing - Yes / No?

2b) Microwave: Not afraid to stand in front of while in use / Run far, far away while is in use to avoid "waves"?

3) Maple Syrup: In the fridge as soon as open / Always out in pantry after open / or Use Madmup Wood Wick for added sweetness to pancakes etc.?

4) Milk: Right-from-the-utter Whole / I-love-to-be-average 2% / I-won't-make-a-stand - 1% / I'm-the-only-guy 1/2 % / or Skim (a.k.a. white water) / or I'm-afraid-of-cows Soy

5) Most unused kitchen appliance: My-Grandmothers-takes-so-long-to-get-hot, Toaster oven / I-had-such-big-plans bread maker / It-looked-cool-in-the-store paste maker / You-never-have-time-in-the-morning / don't-want-to-make-a-mess-IHOP-is-faster, waffle iron?

1) No pulp for me, thanks.

2a) Never microwaved a living thing, no. Sicko.

2b) I'm not afraid to stand in front of it, but don't normally, as I usually put something in to cook and then go do other things while it's cooking.

3) Cold syrup is the ONLY syrup. And who doesn't want the wonderful smell of syrup around? Weirdos, that's who!

4) Skim, though I grew up drinking 2%.

5) The oven. I think I've used the breadmaker more than it. Sad.

It's only right that I answer my own questions...

1) I've never had OJ that had too much pulp...pile it in!

2a) More than once...but not in a very long time.

2b) I'm not afraid of the "waves" but I know people who are.

3) In the pantry (a.k.a. room temp.) For those that know...is this safe?

4) Also, grew up on 2% but switched to Skim in H.S. while cutting weight for wrestling and have never looked back.

5) Waffle iron...invite me over and I'll bring it with...

1. No pulp what-so-ever! I do like the texture, it is just plain gross!

2a. HUH? Are you serious?

2b. I am not afraid of standing in front of the microwave, but I don't stare into it. Most of the time I am busy cooking and only using the microwave to melt butter or something thats quick.

3. I checked the label on the bottle of syrup that I have. It does not specify on where to keep syrup after it is opened. Mine is still in the pantry because I still have not used it (I am not big on waffles or pancakes, to sweet for me).

4. Milk in our fridge is WHOLE milk. Connor's doctor says that it needed for brain development and I am not going to argue with her on that. I don't drink milk and I REALLY don't drink it now that we have whole milk, if I had my choice it would be 2% or 1%.

5. My blender is the least used appliance. Now that I don't drink there seems to be no point for it. Anyone want a blender?

In reference to my first answer, it should read "I do NOT like the texture, it is just plain gross!"

1) I love pulp. Sometimes I think I would like to chew my OJ.
2)Absolutely not. I am a clean freak.
2a) I stand in front, but I am always a little worried. . not enough to move, however.
3) In the fridge. Syrup is one of those things I don't really care about one way or the other.
4)Milk is milk, who cares?
5)80% of the time we have cereal or peanut butter toast for breakfast. I go to great lengths to keep my lovely wife from buying any appliance that will take up more room in our tiny kitchen.

We do have a major kitche overhaul in the works. If anyone would like to donate, let me know. :)

OK, here goes...I don't know if I can remember all of the questions:

1) Gross, I would strain out the pulp myself if I had to....I am all for smooth OJ

2a)If I ever found a creature of any kind in my microwave, I think I would sell it and get a new one!

2b)I am never scared except when I am pregnant....then there is a hint of fear, but not enough to make me move too far away.

3)I prefer cold (but not freezing cold) syrup. My dad makes homemade syrup, but he always had to save me some of the leftover kind bc I could not stand the warm, thin, straight-off-the-stove consistency.

4) Grew up on 2% and 1%, but can only stand skim now...that is, when I actually drink milk.

5) I adore my waffle maker--come on over Jason, and I will whip you up a batch. My least used appliance is a tea maker that we got for our wedding--I really only like Snapple. :-) Too much work to make my own.....

1.) so-so pulp
2a.) Think I microwaved an ant once. (yes I used to roast'em with a magnifying glass...)
2b.) Press my face against the door and giggle with glee as my food cooks... don't understand why I always have a splitting headache afterwards.
3.) Syrup in the fridge once opened. There is something extra tasty about the hot pancakes meeting the cold syrup buffered with the partially melted butter.
4.) I actually select the milk I purchase by examining which has the latest expiration date. Skim, 1/2, 1, 2% doesn't matter to me.
5.) My *only* kitchen appliance is a Crock-pot, and I've never used it. (it was a gift)

Marshall - Thanks for bailing me out on the microwaving a living thing...I knew I wasn't the only one!

Sara - When I get up 4 hrs. early some Sat. morning...I'll give you guys a call and bring my waffle iron on up ;-P

Coach C - Check is in the mail! Okay not really but I wanted to help somehow...

Madmup / Dana - You really don't know what you're missing on the PULP deal...It's the best part of waking up (where have I heard that before?)

1. The word pulp is goes in that list of words I don't like, ie: panty, moist, pudding. The actual stuff is grosser than the word.

2. Never put a living thing in the micro, but once my dad put a cup with a "gold" ring at the top and it blew up.

3. My parents microwave is hidden in the island at about waist level and I won't go in the kitchen while it's running, but mine is above the stove. Brain damage I'm okay with.

4. Syrup in the pantry, and warmed up before being put on pancakes.

5. Soy. It tastes weird, but it will last for like three weeks. I have to throw out regular milk.

6. I use all mine. I actually cook a lot. Shocking I know.

Sorry for my late entry - been a bit busy - see my latest post.

1) I'm on the "piles of pulp" team, never too much fiber - Jason, it helps with consistency - too bad Greg and JP aren't bloggers!

2)Can't say I've ever microwaved anything living - trying to shove my brothers head in there once though - guess that's sorta living

3) Microwave proximity - who cares you're gonna get cancer and die somehow, why not speed up the process

4)Syrup - fridge. No dawg not safe in pantry once opened - (note to self never have pancakes at jason's)

5)I'm also a 2%er converted to skim in adulthood

6) Not much I don't use in the kitchen - and you're all grateful.

This post caused me to laugh aloud in the coffee shop I'm sitting in! HA HA!

1. Not a big OJ fan. I'll take mine 1 part OJ 2 parts water. a little pulp is okay. OR maybe I'll just eat an orange.

2a. NO -- SICKO!

2b. I use the time something is "mikeing" to run around a frantically gather the rest of the necessary items for my meal!

3. In pantry. Cold syrup pours slower and will begin to crystalize over time. It's FINE for it to be room temp. Hello, it's not refrigerated while it's in the TREE!

4. Milk - mmmmmmm. Skim, preferred. 1/2% and 1% if it's on sale, and Soy if I can afford it -- YUM-O!

5. Waffle iron/griddle that Josh made us take with us to our tiny kitchen and he uses and never cleans up I hope he doesn't read this!
