I awoke this morning with these words in my head. This is a very busy time of year for all of us and if by chance you had time to read this blog I wanted to encourage you with them, as I was encouraged this AM. And though I am not a scrooge by any stretch, by now I've had my fill of the radio "holiday" songs...they started them even earlier this year, before Thanksgiving as I recall. It doesn't help that I can't find my Christmas CD's, as I have recently moved and they're surely in of box somewhere. These words below bring to mind a simpler time. I hear my grandmother singing them, in her sweet old grandmother voice, as she plays the piano in her living room. Merry Christmas!
God sent His son, they called Him Jesus
He came to love, heal, and forgive.
He lived and died to buy my pardon, An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives.
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.
Because He lives, All fear is gone.
Because I know He holds the future, And life is worth the living just because He lives.
How sweet to hold a newborn baby, And feel the pride and joy he gives.
But greater still the calm assurance, This child can face uncertain days because He lives.
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.
Because He lives, All fear is gone.
Because I know He holds the future, And life is worth the living just because He lives.
And then one day I'll cross the river, I'll fight life's final war with pain.
And then as death gives way to victory, I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He lives.
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.
Because He lives, All fear is gone!
Because I know He holds the future, And life is worth the living just because He lives!

Thanks for the reminder, Jason. I sometimes dread this time of year because of the commercialism and busyness--it is so easy to lose the focus of why we even celebrate Christmas.
We were able to take the girls to a special Christmas pageant of sorts today, which took you "back in time" to Bethlehem. It was very cool and I was so glad to focus on the real reason for our joy this season.
Enjoy your new place. Do you have a roomate?
That's cool about the Christmas pageant! Yes, I have a roomate...he's a Chemist for a research lab here in town. He's a couple year yonger than I but we're in the same Sunday School class at church. We have pretty different interest but we get along well.
Hey - I love that song...and I hope that your grandma is doing well...
Just caught your post. . .
Totally know what you mean about the Christmas music. I was thinking that even Christian radio becomes secular at Christmas time, which is a TRAGEDY! I'll explain: (bear with me, I've been feeling this tirade for a while)
Christian radio stations that are all "family friendly" (a term that makes me ill as if family is worthy of worship) start playing all their Rudolph, Santa, Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree stuff so they can compete with the other stations at CHristmas. Not that I am so TOTALLY against that type of stuff, but I want to focus on CHRIST, not fuzzy-feeling "yea, I love giving presents and making Christmas cookies and giving random acts of kindness". Even THAT is not the real meaning of CHristmas. It is the slyest way for the devil to take our focus off the Incarnation at Christmas time, by instead making us focus on "good things" and family memories. Thus, Christian radio that promotes that sort of thinking totally rubs me the wrong way. Without CD's, it's only "The most Wonderful Time of the Year. . . with kids jingle belling and everyone telling you be of good cheer. . . "
hi friends...
